Musical Showcase

Harm Jan arranged two songs for the Showcase of the Music Theater Academy of Codarts, upcoming March 29, at the Oude Luxor in Rotterdam. The classic one 'Where do I go?' from the musical 'Hair' and 'Company' from the similar musical of Stephen Sondheim will then be performed.

Devich Trio
Harm Jan is going to arrange some Jerome Kern songs exclusively for the Devich Trio. These arrangements will also be part of a cd. More information will follow. Check also www.devichtrio.com.

Sequenza
As an answer to the sequenzas of Berio, Harm Jan composed a solo piece for violin and electronics. As a source of inspiration he used the mathematical sequence of Fibonnaci. The piece is titled 'Liber Abaci' and
is performed on the New Years concert of Codarts, the 7th of January 2010.

Anniversary Share
Gospel choir Share celebrated its 15-year anniversary last november. Share organized a special concert with guest performances of Joany Muskiet and Remko Harms. As the pianist of Share, Harm Jan accompanied choir and soloists, together with musicians from the Rob de Nijs band. Video fragments of this concert will be posted on this site on the Video Page.

Anniversary Expression
Last november, gospel choir Expression celebrated its 15-year anniversary with a grand concert in Vlaardingen. The concert was a big success, partly due to the presence of Elvis Ediagbonya & Crew.
As the conductor of Expression, Harm Jan performed five songs of his own by choir and band. Two of them, 'Het nieuw Jeruzalem' and 'Walk the road' had their world première. The concert was a unique event and truly a party, according to the many positive reactions of the audience.

Ed Partyka
Last October Harm Jan has had a masterclass of composer and trombone player Ed Partyka (old student of Bob Brookmeyer). Big Band was the subject of discussion. Presently Harm Jan is working at his Big Band arrangement of 'Out of Nowhere' of Johnny Green.

Jan Vayne & Share
Despite the enormous success of the Psalms & Hymns concerts of Jan Vayne and gospel choir Share, the last concert was already the 26th of September in Gouda. During this concert, Harm Jan improvised on well-known hymns at the famous 'Moreau' organ of the Grote of Sint-Janskerk, together with Jan Vayne at the
piano. Soon the video recording of the unique improvisation will be posted on this site!

Martin Mans
Harm Jan already notated ten books of sheet music for the famous organist Martin Mans, with number eleven in preparation! His books contain improvisations that appear on his CDs. As an organist and improviser himself, Harm Jan is the perfect match to convert the music of Martin Mans from CD directly to written-out scores. If you are interested in the music of Martin Mans, check out his website www.martinmans.nl.
